This year’s 12th RubyWorld Conference2020 has been decided to be held online with the perspective of preventing the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

RubyWorld Conference Executive Committee is inviting speakers from around the world for the RubyWorld Conference 2020! Application to give a presentation at the conference is open to the public.
The Program Review Committee of RubyWorld Conference 2020 will choose all presenters based on impartial consideration of all the applicants’ submitted qualifications.
How about you!? Do you have information to present to the world in relation to efforts on Ruby? You are cordially invited to apply! Please see below for Application details and guidelines.

The presentation form will be in the form of pre-recorded as a video from the viewpoint of avoiding various risks which is associated with Live distribution and proceeding with the schedule according to the program on the day of distribution.

(Regarding the presentation of the 30-minute frame, we will set up a question-and-answer time on Live distribution for 5 minutes for those who wish to do so. It is assumed that you can use the online tool after confirming the delivery environment, etc., so please be careful if you are considering applying.)

Application Guideline

1) Targeted applicants

Those who are able to deliver a presentation with content in accordance with one of the following themes.

The 5 themes for presenters
  1. Introducing the trend of cutting edge technology relating to Ruby
  2. Introducing examples of system development
  3. The introduction of Ruby examples from the user perspective
  4. Introducing the efforts to deal with Ruby as a public organization platform
  5. The introduction of education and study dealing with Ruby

2) Technical fields

In the above recruitment area, we are hoping to see applications using Ruby in various technical fields and Ruby research contents as below.

  1. Web applications
  2. IoT (Edge computing, Sensor devices), Mechanical control
  3. Infrastructure
  4. Data analysis, Data utilization

1. Summary of the presenter
Description within 1 page (A4-size, 8×10) (in PDF format) including:

  • Presentation theme (any one of the 5) described above
  • Title of presentation
  • Name of the presenter with contact information
  • Presenter time slot preference 15 minutes or 30 minutes
  • Languages for application and presentation (Japanese or English)

    • If the applicant gave a similar presentation on the same subject they intend to present at RWC2020 they must also include a statement of where and when they gave the prior presentation.
    • If you would like a 30 minutes time slot, please specify if you would also like a question and answer time during the live delivery.

2. Outline of the presentation

  • Description within 3 pages (A4-size, 8×10) (in PDF format)
  • Attachment of documents allowed as needed
  • Include a descriptive abstract of the presentation

5) Determination of presenters

All who apply will be notified regardless if chosen to present or not.

6) Quota for admission

  • 30 minutes slots
  • 15 minutes slots

7) Time allocated per presentation

  • 30 minutes slot 25 minutes presentation with 5 minutes Q&A*
  • 15 minutes slot 15 minutes presentation

*The date and time of the presentation will be decided by the committee. After the lecture, we will set up a question-and-answer time on Live distribution for 5 minutes for those who wish to do so. (30 minutes frame only). We don’t accept requests for dates and times. If you would like a question and answer time, make sure you have a schedule so you can speak at any time during the conference. Also, it may not be possible to meet your request for a presentation frame (Time).
